"This is a traditional Swedish dish that is one of our favorite meals! Uncle Van loves to serve this with a salad and asparagus and my warm homemade rolls."
-Veanne Elg
Ingredients:
2 lb fresh cod fish (from the deli is best) cut into 1 inch cubes
6 hard-boiled eggs (peeled and cut into 1/2 inch pieces)
1 can evaporated milk
1 can water
1 tsp salt
1 cube marg or butter
4 T flour + 1 C water (stir or shake together to make rue to thicken gravy)
3 T mustard (or more to taste)
6 med potatoes
Directions:
Start by boiling and preparing eggs, then bring fish to a slow boil and cook until white and firm (do not overcook). In a large skillet or pot melt butter over med heat, increase heat and add evaporated milk, water, and rue as needed. Add mustard and salt, stirring gravy constantly until gravy is thick and creamy. Gently stir in fish and eggs. Serves 6-8.
*Serve over peeled boiled potatoes. We like to cut the potatoes in cubes or spears.
