Ingredients:
3 C water
1 orange, large, peeled and cut into quarter
1/2 lemon, peeled and cut in 1/2
1 green onion, cut in 1/2
2 T onion, sliced
1 tsp ginger, fresh, grated
1/2 tsp vegetable oil
1 C sugar
2 T ketchup
1 T soy sauce
1/3 C vinegar (white or rice)
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 C pineapple juice
1 T red food coloring (add to desired color)
1/2 tsp yellow food coloring (add to desired color)
1/4 C cornstarch mixed with 1/4 C water
Directions:
In a medium pot, bring 3 C water to boil, then add orange, lemon, green onion, sliced onion and oil. Cook at medium low heat for 40 minutes. Strain the mixture, keep the juice and discard the rest. Pour the juice back to the pot, add ketchup, sugar, soy sauce, vinegar, salt, pineapple juice, red and yellow food coloring. Bring to boil. Add cornstarch and mix to thicken.
